Umbwe Gate (1,661m) - Umbwe Cave Camp (2,850m)

Day 1 - Arusha to Umbwe Gate to Cave Camp
You will be picked up after breakfast at your accommodation, then transported to the gate for an early starts of your Kilimanjaro Adventure. You'll register at the gate, then starting the trail that quickly enters thick forest before ascending north-east on an increasingly narrow ridge. After 4 to 5 hours you'll see Cave Camp, where you will dine and sleep for the night.
Day 2 - Cave Camp to Barranco Camp
First breakfast, then you start the days climb north-east again. After a short half hour you leave the forest, and a little further up you get to a 10m high cliff, whose rocky steps, branches and roots help you to overcome this minor obstacle. Now you see Kibo and the Southern Ice fields for the first time. 1 hour climb into the day takes you past the first of the two higher caves. Passed the second cave the incline decreases slightly, and the trail become broader and easier. You reach Barranco Camp witch is surrounded by groundsel and Lobelia. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3 - Acclimatization day - Barranco camp
Today you have the options of relaxing at this attractive and magnificently located camp where you already slept one night. But maybe the best option is to do some hiking, and explore the Great Barranco Valley, and even make an approach to the classic technical climbing route over the Hein Glacier. Dinner and overnight at the same camp as yesterday.
Day 4 - Barranco camp - Barafu Camp.
After breakfast we leave the Barranco Camp and head towards the junction which connects with the Mweka trail. We hike to Barafu (Barafu mean ice in Swahili, be ready for low temperatures!) camp where we set up camp. This day's walk is about 6 to 7 hours. Dinner and overnight at the campsite, altitude 4.600m with the possibility of sighting both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Early bedtime to prepare for the night ascent to the top!
Day 5 - Barafu Camp - Mweka via Stella Point and Uhuru Peak.
We rise early (around midnight) and head for Stella Point altitude 5,745m on our way to the summit Uhuru Peak (Uhuru means Freedom in Swahili) which is 5,895m above sea level. This part of the hike takes about 6 hours. From the summit we descend to the Mweka hut campsite, 3,100m above sea level. This part of the descent takes about 5 hours. Dinner and the last tenting night at the campsite.
6 - Mweka Gate to Arusha
After breakfast, we descend to the Mweka Park Gate in an average hiking time of 4 hours at the gate the successful climbers who have reached the peak will be given the certificates proving their successful achievement of reaching the top! Then we will transport you to your next accommodation.
